Scouting in Newport

I bought my daughter, Helen, one of these bangles and she has not taken it off.  The Saint Christopher's Medal is $21.00 and a great gift for your daughters and or god children. 

I love that these bangles will bend to fit ALL wrist sizes.

I also purchased a bear charm bracelet and a sweet little turtle charm for $21.00.  In fact, I have purchased so many of these bangles this summer that my arm is barely able to bend.

Have you perused your latest issue of Elle Magazine?

Look carefully and you'll see a small feature on local jewelry maker Tavia KF Brown. 

The bracelet above was made in memory of a loved one.

 

The studios for taviametal are in the Linen Building on East Market Street just across form Jinx BBQ. Tavia's beautifully crafted pieces are a gorgeous blend of punk rock and mother earth. I love the heft of the rings and the chunky yet delicate designs. Really arresting are the custom pieces; adoration bracelets which can be engraved with the names, ss numbers, whateveres, of those you love. There are those who put them on and never take them off. Saturday at the Farmers Market

Saturday mornings are one of my daughters favorite days of the week. We wake up at 6:30 and arrive at the Farmer's Market by AM for a fresh donut, some local produce and a visit to the Inedible Jewelry Tent.  

The sisters that started this small local business are adorable and so are the small polymer clay food charms they have created.  

Today, my daughter spent her birthday money on the necklace below:  a grapefruit charm, a pink cupcake and a watermelon charm; all hanging from a pink and orange beaded necklace.  

Next time you need to send a gift to someone outside of Charlottesville, remember that it is always fun to receive a locally made treat.  

P.S. The Inedible girls are also making cuff links-a great gift for Father's Day.
